Welcome to North East Bushrangers VJBL
About
VJBL is a State League competition for Junior athletes. There are 56 associations with over 1300 teams competing across multiple divisions. This is run by the JRC (Junior Representative Committee) of Basketball Victoria and is considered to be the most prestigious playing pathway for Victorian Basketball athletes.
Basketball Victoria High Performance considers that playing in the VJBL is advantageous and part of the pathway for elite athletes.
One advantage evolving from the VJBL program in the north east is to reduce the burden of travel on individual families; this does not mean there is NO travel, but as a Club, travel can be shared.
VJBL Travel Rules: A 210 km circumference is drawn from the home court (ours is Benalla Stadium), so if the club is fixtured to play a team who is deemed to be outside the 210km range, then we must play them at a neutral venue (ie. Wallan, Craigieburn, Keilor, Eltham etc). If the visiting team resides within this distance, we play at either their home court or ours.
A calendar on the website lays out the spacing for games and grading phase click here to view the VJBL calendar
Commitment to the program is therefore paramount, and families/players are urged to consider this prior to committing to a team. The League enforces hefty fines to teams who do not fulfill their commitments.
The Club Fees for Juniors
The fee to participate in the NEB VJBL teams is $400/player when selected. Players may source a sponsor to fully/partly cover the fee.
1 Registrations should be done through PlayHQ. Contact your coach for information.
2. To obtain a Player Sponsor, download the document by clicking here.
Fees Cover the training and court fees and referee fees with a 28 round season plus finals pre trainings and holiday trainings we allow for 36 weeks. This equates to around $12.00 a week per person for us to put the program on. We run at a minimal budget!!
Door fees: All venues charge a door sheet fee and and charge for spectators to enter the venue, including our home venues. Door sheet fees are around $50 per team with each player contributing to the cost, paying their Team Manager on the day. Spectator entry is generally between $3 and $5 at each venue.
Uniforms - For all enquiries please email uniforms@nebb.org.au
Players are responsible for purchasing their own playing uniform online. These can be personalized with name / nickname etc within the Club's guidelines. Order your uniform when the link is provided to you by your TM, a playing number will also be allocated at this time. Strict deadlines for ordering will be adhered to (if you don't have a uniform, you will be unable to play!), so make sure you order on time!
General Info
Parents are responsible for their own child, however car pooling is strongly encouraged to support fatigue / weekly commitments. Please speak to a committee member for further information Click here to read our policy guidlines NEBB
Training is generally conducted at Benalla, but we will consider player logistics for each team when organising this, trying to ensure the least amount of travel for all.
The League has a NO TOLERANCE view of overzealous spectators/ parents. So please ensure you don't embarrass yourself or the Club as the LEAGUE is resolute in stamping out unacceptable behavior and you may find yourself banned from attending games. These rules are enforced at all venues by the League and will be enforced.
If you have any concerns or questions in relation to the information above, please email: vjbl@nebb.org.au
We trust you will enjoy the experience VJBL brings for all players and hope you enjoy the season.
Our commitment is “ Creating Realistic Pathways for all North East Athletes”
