Bushies sign NBA pedigree for 2019 Big V Season
The North East Bushrangers Basketball Club are excited to announce the signing of Jordan Green as our Div 2 Men’s import for the 2019 season. Jordan is an athletic and agile player with limitless versatility which will strengthen our inside/outside options. At 26 years of age and being a lofty 202cm, he will be a formidable force to guard inside the paint and an asset on the boards. We will be looking for Jordan to utilise his wealth of NCAA experience, and extensive basketball coaching credentials to provide strong leadership to our young playing group.
Coach, Emma Henry said, “We are excited to have Jordan join the Bushies squad and provide more depth to the group. He will be a much-needed strong presence inside the key both offensively and defensively. He brings with him a lot of experience and can stretch the floor and play from the perimeter. We look forward to him working with some of our young and developing players to help them continue to take their game to the next level.“
Jordan will be an asset off the court too! He began his coaching career at camps for Chelsea Piers in New York City, where he quickly gained the reputation of making the camp seriously skill-driven, yet ensuring the camp was fun and exciting for the kids. Jordan’s camp mantra of ‘developing the kids and letting their improvement be fun’ was of particular interest to the NEB Club, as junior player development in North East Victoria is a priority for the Club.
Jordan is a self-professed ‘gym junkie’ and student of the game. He is a leader who endeavours to improve his team-mates skill base while priding himself as being a well-rounded player on court.
Jordan has been associated with basketball since birth – his father, Sean Green, is a former NBA Player and FIBA Professional. Jordan studied Film and Digital Media majoring in Communication at university in the States.
NEB Head Coach, Emma Henry, added “We are looking forward to showcasing Jordan to our fans at our first home game in Wangaratta.”
Our Men’s team take to the court in Round 1 at home in Wangaratta on Sunday March 17th , 1pm tip-off. Don’t miss the action!
BUSHIES SCOOP 2018 LEAGUE AWARDS!
The WHB North East Bushrangers are excited to announce Jacqui Henry and Emma Henry as the head coaches of the Women and Men’s programs for 2019.
Following a successful 2018 season for the Lady Bushrangers, which saw the side make a maiden appearance in the Division 2 finals, Mick Hales has made the difficult decision to step aside. This has opened the door for Jacqui Henry to return to the sidelines after having the 2018 season off. Henry was the inaugural coach of the NE Bushrangers Men’s program from 2014 to the end of the 2017 season, along with being the NE Bushrangers Coaching Director and brings a wealth of basketball knowledge to the program.
Jacqui is excited to offer the female athletes of the North East an opportunity to play basketball at a high level an as a stepping stone to greater success through the development of skills and mental attitudes. Reflecting on the success the Lady Bushrangers had last season, Henry admits the bar has been set high and that they will be aiming to repeat this performance.
Jacqui will be looking to work with the playing group from last season and any other welcome additions that put their hand up throughout the season while developing a strong culture of hard work and commitment to their basketball pursuits and a desire to achieve the team’s goals and philosophy.
Returning for a second season in charge of the North East Bushrangers, Emma Henry will be looking to build on the team development that a number of players experienced during a trying 2018 season. Acknowledging that results were lacking in the win column, Emma sighted the growth of young players Austin Wickes and Lachlan Kego as significant positives that the side will be looking to build on going into 2019.
Season 2019 will also see the Bushrangers look to bolster their depth as they seek out players to compliment dynamo, Liam Wright. A strong focus has been securing the services of local Australian players to give them an opportunity to further pursue their basketball aspirations.
These appointments are all but the final building blocks for the NE Bushrangers program that has now expanded to include sides in the Victorian Junior Basketball League.
Stay tuned for an announcement on when both the Men and Women will be holding ope try-outs. For any players interested in early discussions with the club, please contact us on email@example.com and this will be forwarded on to the respective coaches.
