North East Bushrangers Head Coach, Emma Henry has signed former South Adelaide Panther’s forward, Dylan Shorne to our Men’s starting line-up for the 2019 season. Shorne has four years’ experience competing in the Australian Premier League and is looking forward to the move east.
Dylan arrived on the border earlier this week, just in time for Round 1. At 24 years of age, he stands a very handy 200cm (6’6”) and will add strength and consistency around the boards at both ends of the court. Coach, Emma Henry said, “It was evident at Dylan’s first training session, how much strength he brings around the boards at both ends of the court”.
Last season while playing in the APL in South Australia, Dylan averaged, in 23mins of playing time, 14.2ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.9apg at a field goal percentage of 43.8%. We are excited to see the impact he will have in this league, and how he will help develop our young playing group along the way.
After training on Tuesday, Dylan said, “I’m excited and ready to get the season underway and very thankful for the opportunity.” As a team-oriented player, he is keen to see how quickly the squad gels together in the opening weeks.
Teamed with import, Jordan Green, Head Coach Henry is feeling more confident about the season ahead. Dylan’s shooting accuracy will definitely list him as a notable player to be guarded by his opponents which will help us spread the floor, allowing young-gun, Liam Wright to get off a few perimeter shots.
Coach, Emma Henry added, “It’s the first time in our Club’s history that we’ve been able to include two experienced players to the roster for the same season, which changes the dynamics of the playing group and allows us to focus on higher level challenges.“
The 2019 Big V Season tips off on Saturday March 16th, with both our Men’s & Women’s teams heading to Melton. The men will back that up with a home game in Wangaratta on Sunday March 17th, at 1pm v Camberwell. Make sure you keep an eye on Dylan as he’s sure to make his mark in the Big V and some excitement to our games!
