The Lady Bushrangers are ecstatic to have picked up experienced USA Import, MaKenzie Miller for the remainder of the Big V season. It is the first time the Lady Bushrangers have recruited an import and everyone is thrilled!
Head Coach, Jacqui Henry, stated that "MaKenzie will bring much-needed experience and strength to our inside game, as she reads the boards well at both ends of the court. She has a high basketball IQ, and this will help develop the younger players around her".
Miller started her playing career at Chatfield High School in Minnesota before playing with Southern Minne Magic, based out of Austin, Minnesota where the team won numerous tournaments and championships. Her college career commenced in 2013 where she played at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse where she was identified as an outstanding player receiving Honorable Mentions in her Junior and Senior years.
A trip to Australia in 2018 to join Latrobe City Energy (Big V Div 1), kick-started her professional playing career, where she was an extremely influential contributor, racking up 15.7 points per game (6th in the conference) and 13.3 rebounds per game (2nd in the conference). These notable achievements earned her the team’s 2018 MVP Award.
MaKenzie then headed to Lemvig in Denmark to play during the Big V off-season, again leading with stats of 16.1 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game.
We are excited to have MaKenzie join our playing group and look forward to the strength and skill she adds to our line-up. She is literally the missing piece to our puzzle, bringing much-needed inside strength and experience. MaKenzie takes to the court on Saturday when the Lady Bushrangers take on second-placed Pakenham at the HP Barr Reserve in Wangaratta, 5pm tip-off.
