With both teams at home again this weekend we will see two great games.  The girls will be in a nail biting clash taking on 6th placed Collingwood All Stars with our own 7th placed Stars the Lady Bushies.  With a break last week we are aiming high for the girls to get this one in the bag and climb over Collingwood who have been on the way down in the last couple of weeks whilst the girls are sitting nicely with two last wins. Liv Storer seems to have assisted in making the difference after returning home from a successful College Year in the US.

Now its the men's turn who will take on Southern Pen but the card up the sleeve is the return of Lloyd Wright just in from his college year at Orange County College (OCC).  We spoke with Coach Spencer who had this to say about Lloyd- 

1. Orange Empire Conference Champions for the first time in 40 years.
2. Regional Championship representation for the first time in 40 years.
3. Lloyd received ‘All Conference First Team’ honours for Orange Empire Conference.
4. Won Regional Championships for the first time in 40 years.
5. Elite 8 California State Championships for the first time in 40 years.
6. Lloyd could not buy a shot in Fridays game – kept rimming out but still scored 19 points.
7. In the post season Lloyd averaged 21.33 points (64 points) in 26.33 minutes/game (79 minutes) of court time or 32 points adjusted for a 40 minute game.

 
Along the way we beat many school records including longest winning streak since 1956/57. Winning against teams in the conference we had not beaten for 11 years. Coach Spencer credits Lloyd with a lot of the OCC 2017 – 2018 success.

With any luck Lloyd can turn the table for the Bushrangers!  Get on Down and give Wrighty a well earned North East welcome and support the teams as they change the tables. Wangaratta Stadium 5.00 and 7.00.

This weekend the girls have a much needed rest while the boys take on Altona Gators!!  A big preview game with D squads having a battle!

With both teams holding up the bottom of the ladder, and even though the Gators have a couple more wins under their belts the Bushies have a very good chance of finally getting their first win this game, they have been so close to tasting victory since recruiting their new import  Richard Townsend-Gant. If Richard can stop the Gators big man James Till and still get to the ring and if Liam Wright is firing offensively they theoretically can get a decent win here. The Gators will go into the game as the favourites and wont go down quietly, they have proven they never give up and can push for all 4 quarters.

Melton comes to Wangaratta tomorrow night and in the Bushies' territory they might think that they are the thoroughbreds but the men and women will be ready to ride these ponies!  After a great weekend last weekend at Wodonga, the Bushies' teams are primed and ready for a battle to make the most of the home court advantage.  Expecting big things from Rachel and Alaana for the Lady Bushrangers with Liam and Richard backing it all up for the Bushrangers, it should be a great night's entertainment, kicking off at 5.00pm. So get on down to HP Barr reserve in Wangaratta and support the Bushrangers' teams in two big games!
