Division 2 Men
As the Eagles soar up to the border the Bushies will be preparing to take them down, with the addition of import Richard Townsend-Gant the Bushies have been a threat to all teams they have faced, yet still searching for that first victory. If Craigieburn isn’t careful North East might just find it this week. Make sure you bring your A game Eagles, the Bushies are waiting for you. Division Two WomenHaving snapped a 2 game losing streak last week, the Bushrangers will be looking to prove it wasn’t a fluke as they host the Eagles back at Wodonga. Craigieburn themselves are in hot form, undefeated in their 4 outings to date, both at home and on the road. With plenty of minutes has come plenty of points for Nicole Cameron who leads Craigieburn in scoring while Alaana Northey and Rachel Jeffrey are the ones that Craigieburn will need to shut down. Don't forget to be in our raffle this weekend and win your self something swift! Proudly supported by Brooks Motors! Division Two MenNorth East have found that extra piece they needed to give them the fighting chance in Richard Townsend-Grant, after giving Mildura (who are sitting comfortably in the top 4) a run for their money. If the Bushies can continue last weekend’s form the Suns will need to bring their A game this round, it isn’t going to be as easy as they may have first thought. North East will have to try and put the breaks on Eric Miraflores who is having a stellar season so far, he might be little in stature but he plays a big game! Sherbrooke are coming off of 3 straight losses and are in much need of a win, but North East you could say need it even more considering they are yet to get one.
Division Two WomenAfter their successful opening home game at Belgrave, the Sherbrooke girls travel from the hills to the plains as North East visit Wangaratta for the first time this season as part of a home double header. The Bushrangers will be keen to get back on the winners list with a 50% record. If the Suns can grab a sneaky win here they could draw level with their hosts on the ladder. After a week off last week, the team from the North East might be fresher, but they’ll need some momentum ahead of another danger game against Craigieburn next week. The Suns have shown signs that they have the ability. Expect a close match up. Division Two MenPakenham 96 def North East 57
After the devastating news of the loss of their import not even the Easter break helped North East. Pakenham showed the Bushies the meaning behind teamwork with 6 of their players scoring double digits and 3 of them having double doubles. Unfortunately as good as Liam Wright is, he just cant do it alone, the Warriors trampled over the Bushies with a 39 point win leading the match from almost the first basket. Division Two Women Collingwood 90 def North East 55 A great win at home for the All Stars defeating a danger team in the Bushrangers. Leading for all but one bucket all night, a 31-13 second term set the foundation for the victory and finishing off in style with a 25-15 last erm. Jada Buggs lighting up the stage an assist away from a triple double, collecting 29 points to go with 19 boards and 9 assists. Helen Rodan contributing with a double of her own of 20pts and 15 rebounds. Jayde Popvski scoring 17pts as well. For North East, Chloe Storer had a 14pt/12rb double, as Rachel Jeffery led team scoring with 16 and Ella Hayes also collecting 14pts. With the Lady Bushies sitting top of the table with a 2 and 1 Win Loss record their road trip this weekend to 8th placed Collingwood will hopefully see them secure their position as front runners. Catch the game in live stats beginning at 3.00 p.m. or get along to support the girls.
The boys this weekend have their first game for the Season at Wangaratta. With the 8th placed Pakenham Warriors in the home of Wangaratta Warriors the Bushie boys might just take some advantage over the name. Coach Emma Henry will be putting their best foot forward but will need the help of a supporter filled loud crowd to get the boys over the line. Liam Wright on the outside will need to be on-song from the 3 pt line while inside Big Tom Crowe will have his work cut out for him under the basket. Get along to the game at 5.00 p.m. for all the entertainment and have a great night out with the North East Bushrangers at Wangaratta Basketball Stadium. |
